Midbrain (English: mesencephalon) is part of the brain that has the structure:
tektum, consisting of 2 pairs of colliculi called corporaquadrigemina:
inferior colliculi, are involved in the process of hearing. Signalsreceived from the various brain stem nuclei of the thalamusprojected to the medial geniculate nucleus known to be forwarded to the primary auditory cortex (English: primaryauditory cortex).
superior colliculi, serves as the beginning of the process ofvisual and eye movement control
